Stereognostic Bag 3

Stereognostic Bag 3 is a fabric drawstring bag holding a set of small objects. The child reaches in without looking, identifies each object by its shape, size and texture, names it, and then checks by taking it out.

The direct aim is to develop the stereognostic sense: recognising objects through touch and muscle memory. The indirect aims are vocabulary, concentration and the mental picture of shape that supports geometry and, later, reading and writing the letters by touch.

The bags are a classic sensorial extension, used after the child has worked with the geometric solids and other shape materials. Like all our materials, it is sourced and quality-checked by Montessori for Kenya for use in AMI/AMS-aligned classrooms, home environments and teacher training settings across Kenya.
