Description
Fabric Box 1 holds pairs of fabrics of different textures, such as silk, wool, cotton and velvet. The child feels the cloths, with eyes open at first and later blindfolded, and matches each with its partner.
The direct aim is to refine the tactile sense and to build vocabulary for textures, such as smooth, rough, soft and coarse. The indirect aim is preparation for the careful handling of materials and for the precise language used in science and writing.
Used on its own, or with the other fabric box, for matching and sorting work. Like all our materials, it is sourced and quality-checked by Montessori for Kenya for use in AMI/AMS-aligned classrooms, home environments and teacher training settings across Kenya.
